Classes
Inquisitor - Deep Dive
Overview
Inquisitors are a specialized tank class with a myriad of tools for neutralizing casters. They’ve always served this role well, so in this rework, we’ve focused on smoothing out the rough edges for that experience.
The fundamental role, theme, and broad strokes of the Inquisitor kit are staying the same. Overall damage is slightly increasing, particularly against casters. Several of the shared spell lines with Enchanters have been tweaked to be unique to the Inquisitor, and a few new tools have been added.
Melee Abilities
Censuring Strike - Censure your target with a violent strike, dealing Weapon Ratio Damage plus Physical Damage, and decreasing their Casting Speed. (This ability combines Slam and the Mind Exhaustion spell line. Given its lack of mana cost, the Casting Speed reduction has been slightly rebalanced.)
Purifying Blow - Unleash a purifying blow upon your target, dealing Weapon Ratio Damage plus Magic Damage, increasing your Threat against them, and granting you a chance to remove one beneficial effect from them. Additionally, if the target is afflicted by any spell in the Distress line, the purge effect is guaranteed. (This ability has a longer cooldown, but deals more damage than Censuring Strike. It’s now tiered with slightly higher damage scaling, and the purge effect can occur even without the debuff.)
Spell Lines
Distress - Distress your target, dealing Magic Damage, increasing your Threat against them, and decreasing their Magic Resistance. (This line combines a couple of spells, formerly shared with Enchanters, into a single one. When applied to your target, it guarantees the purge effect of Purifying Blow.)
Pillage Mana - Pillage the mind of your target, draining Mana and distributing a percentage of the amount drained to each group member. Additionally, when this spell successfully lands on the target, its Mana cost is refunded. (This line replaces the Incinerate Mana line. It now has a 60-second cooldown.)
Auras
We’re making a few trades between previous spell lines and Inquisitor auras. Aura of the Inquisitive is being removed in favor of a new perk on the Pillage Mana line (see above), while the Haste spell line is being removed in favor of Aura of Rapidity. Weapon Shield has been removed, but Aura of Resistance remains.
Aura of Rapidity - Envelop your group in an aura of rapidity, increasing their Attack Speed. (This effect is considered a Primary Haste, but includes a smaller Secondary Haste component that stacks with hastes from Enchanters and Shamans.)
Aura of Resistance - Envelop your group in a warding aura, reducing their Spell Damage received and increasing their Cold, Fire, Corruption, Holy, and Magic Resistance.
Defense and Cooldowns
Inquisitor cooldowns are mostly unchanged, but a few have been pruned. They continue to have access to Arcane Aegis, Arcane Protection, Dominate the Mind, and Magic Disruption Shell, while Deflect and Focused Concentration have been removed.
Though Inquisitors typically prefer dealing with spell-casting opponents, we’ve added a defensive option to help them survive against difficult melee opponents, albeit at a mana cost.
Ward of Suspicion - Encase yourself in a ward of suspicion, absorbing damage received. Additionally, when an attacker breaks the ward, their Attack Speed is decreased.
Crowd Control and Interrupts
Inquisitors are retaining their existing options for Stun and Silence effects. The Mesmerize line has been slightly branched from the Enchanter’s version, and Kick has been replaced with a Shield-based interrupt.
Interdiction - Condemn your target, increasing your Threat against them and incapacitating them. (This spell adds threat to the mesmerized target, rather than “mem-blurring” them.)
Reflecting Bash - Fiercely bash your target with a shield, interrupting their casting, dealing Magic Damage equal to the Mana cost of the interrupted spell, and preventing them from casting spells from the same school of magic.
Buffs
Quite a few buffs have been bundled into other abilities. The Haste line has been converted to an aura (see above), while the Strength and targetable Magic Resistance buffs have been merged into Arcane Tyrant.
Arcane Tyrant - Embody tyranny over the arcane, increasing your Strength and Magic Resistance, and granting you the ability to see invisible entities and magical effects when considering targets.
The Holy Resistance buffs were off-theme, so they’ve been replaced with self-only buffs for Electric and Fire.
Inquisitors continue to have access to the Spellshield line, increasing Health, Armor Class, and Magic Resistance.
Other
Psychic Choke has received a small damage increase to account for the lost melee damage while it's being channeled.
Mana Burn, Invisibility, Purge, Dispel Magic, and Memory Fog remain unchanged.
