Update 04: Game Development in the Open

shawnstream1.png

This is an area where we’ve elected to take some risk:
we’re being extremely open about the development of the game, including livestreaming our progress.

Project_N stems from ideas and discussions we’ve had with the community, so it seemed very natural to transition those discussions into building something tangible.

The belief is that this is not only an opportunity to work on a cool game, but a chance to help inform our community on the behind the scenes work that goes into making games.

This includes discussions on Art, Design, Tech, Community Management, Customer Service, Product Management, Project Management, Legal processes, and anything else people are curious about.

The response has been fantastic!

and now we’re having regular discussions with other creators on our Discord server about work they’ve been inspired to do as a result.

It’s also been a fantastic way to get feedback from our community in real-time, test ideas, and learn a ton.

For example, I’ve been able to quickly learn how to do basic worldbuilding in Blender, due to all of the tips & tricks people have provided during my Twitch streams.

It’s really been a unique experience so far.

Nick has also been streaming, while focusing on iterating on our design tools and content implementation.

Stop by, if you haven’t already. Some nights we’re just playing EverQuest (including P99) or Valheim, but even then we’re likely discussing the game, it’s progress, or MMORPGs and Game Development in general.
