Update 03: Initial Concept Art

Art

As part of our initial development process, we commissioned some concept art to get the environment block-out and style development process started.

This work was done by a really talented illustrator I learned of from my work at a previous company.

We love her style, and wanted to see if she could help us bring the classic fantasy painting styles of artists like Larry Elmore, Jess Easley, and Keith Parkinson (to name only a few of our favorites) to life in a new way, within our game.

If you look at this concept, you can see how the Night Harbor block-out I’d previously made quickly changed to match this style.

This concept work (of which there is more currently not shown here) has gone a long way towards influencing our style.

Ali even made a shader to match the sand, which we’re still using today.

Keep an eye out for more updates, which show newer work from Marie, in helping us iterate through our art style.
