Update 36: October 2023

November Stress Test and December Play Test

This month we will be holding a short (approximately 2-3 hours) Stress Test on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 at 1:00 PM EST.

We’re doing this to test server and client stability, and work out any other kinks ahead of a longer, 34 hour Play Test, starting Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at 1:00 PM EST, and ending on Sunday, December 10th at 11:00 PM EST.

We look forward to seeing you in-game soon!

Tech

  • Upgraded to Unity 2022.3.12f1 and Wwise 2022.1.8.8316

  • Reduced CPU/GPU consumption on login and character select screens

  • Added ability for quests and mud actions to trigger custom sounds

  • Added ability to turn in coin for quests

  • Improved NPC scripting allowing them to change facing, spawn other npcs, emote, and shout

  • Improved options for scripting NPC quest text

  • Added initial vision system support (ex. infra/ultra-vision, day blindness)

  • Trait information is now sent to the client to allow for integration with UI

  • Traits can now specify vision modes and update the client

  • Added support for vision buff spells and items

  • Targeting yourself when you're already targeted will target your pet if you have one

  • Targeting a group member you already have targeted will target their pet

  • Items with charges now show color code in the remaining charges label

  • Fixed server errors preventing Fishing

  • The /who [all] command now supports searching for players by "guild name".

  • Command /who [all] guild now shows only players in your guild.

  • Added a chat channel for guild officers only. The command is /of[fficer] <message>

  • Added a guild window for managing guild members that are both on and offline

  • Added /stopcast command

  • Added /stopsong command

  • Fixed EntityAbilitiesModel.CastingAbility does not get cleared between casts.

  • Added /damage <amount> command for GMs

  • Added F7 - Target nearest Friendly, and F8 - Target Nearest Hostile

  • Rezing in the same zone no longer shows the loading screen.

  • /invuln and /aggro GM command effects now persist. Robot can stop dying as much on stream now.

  • Fix null ref due to traits list not being initialized before being accessed when player loads into the game with a buff/debufff.

  • Refactor /who logic that was duplicated in world and server into a single location

  • Added /gmanon command that hides you from all /who queries.

  • Added /anon and /roleplay commands that affect how you are seen in /who queries.

  • Fixed corpse position not updating with /corpse dragging on client side.

  • Added support for full race and class names in /who queries.

  • Support partial class and race names in /who queries.

  • Performance: Disable magica cloth on race models based on distance and frustum culling.

  • Added option to turn off the camera auto rotating behind you when moving.

  • Fixed pet window not showing up when logging in with a persistent pet.

  • Base system, character create UI for attributes and traits

  • Attribute points selection server side validation

  • GMs can reset a target's attribute points with /reroll

  • Quests can give out /reroll redeem

  • Attribute points can be reset at a trainer if client has a redeem from GM or quest

  • Jumping forward gives you small amount of speed to create opportunity of escape from mobs

  • Fix bug related to stat types not being shown correctly in UI

  • Fix bug related to not stopping Rain SFX on client disconnect

  • Fix double Jump SFX from playing

  • Stopped Jump SFX spam

  • Spawn Editor - facing/rotation added for box type volumes

  • Spawn Editor - easier to select things in scene view

  • Spawn Editor - toggle parent/child relationship on zone spawners

  • Spawn Editor - show unity handle lines for wander command

Character Art

  • Modelled, textured, and began animations for our first dragon (of many)

  • Adjustments made to the male dwarf’s low hanging belt lantern, while accounting for his long thick beard

  • Adjustments made to player capes & robes

  • Female Ogre modelling started

 

Concept Art

  • Concept support for work in the Bends

  • Color palettes explored for Night Harbor texture pass

  • Up-ressed existing player race concepts

 

Environment Art

  • Tweaks to Sungreet Strand geo

  • Worked on the Riverbend District (the Bends - adventure area) of Night Harbor

  • Worked on Highpoint Terrace and the Great Guild Hall

  • Additional ore nodes created

  • Lots of new props created (welcome to the team, Bilth!)

 

SFX

Robert created a whole bunch of new Spell Effect sounds as well as different Ambiences for Day & Night cycles. Check them out!
